First of the species of Ensgar, the great Hringr are insular and defensive, rarely leaving the borders of their two remaining Homewoods. Bear-sized, fearsomely intelligent canines supported by the remnants of the earliest human tribes. If they ever left their forests, who could stop them?

The second oldest species on Ensgar, The Volkir are much less feared and respected that their older siblings, the Hringr. Volkir are diminutive vulpine inventors, held in contempt for their purportedly unhygienic habits. Overlooking them is far to easy, and commonly fatal.

The Republic has been the most powerful force in the known continent since their philosopher agitators led a rebellion against the old Sardic empire, and set-up a massive secular bureaucracy with a giant academy of learning at its heart. What mysteries will its researcher unearth?

The remnant of the Sardic Empire is far from powerless and continues to be at war with The Republic centuries later. The Archbishop of All Seasons is arguably more powerful than The Emperor, and the clerical legions of Varcor’s priests are unbeatable in a fair fight.

The country of Valindar is hard to categorise. Led by five militaristic dukes, who are constantly fighting, and yet are venal and cowardly. The peasantry have learned to ignore their masters and exhibit an unflappable joie de vivre. Still, there are no finer horsemen than Valindari knights.

The former sixth duchy of Valindar, Liberty was the only region to offer sanctuary to the Mordaim fleeing the great purge. Now the Duchy is fully independent with no-one brave enough to take on the Mordaim, whose corsairs control the seas, and whose assassins have never been stopped.

One of three great Empires before the Godsfall, Padanar lost more than half its size when the Sky Hulks crashed, and a third of the remainder when they retreated from Vesper to their core lands. Advised by the Augurs, and The Magi, The Autarch stands ready to battle the evil god Terminus.

To the North of Valindar live the fearsome Norda tribes on the tundra and icesheets. With them are the only aliens to survive The Godsfall, when skyships turned the skies red with flames. The Giesta are huge whalelike bipeds who share the Norda’s shamanism and battle hunger.

Vesper is the remaining major city of northern Padanar, now called the Liminal zone, still officially Padanarsi but surrounded by Republican armies sealing The Great Degradation to its east. Many born in Vesper suffer entropic mutations making them so-called Half-Spawn or Changelings.

Within The Great Degradation live the disorganised fragment of pitiful humanity known as the Waste Spawn. Short lived and highly mutated they live hand to mouth existences, trading artifacts they can find for food and water. Their numbers may be vaster than understood.

Trapped since creation in the core of Ensgar, the dark god Terminus plots his escape. Falling Sky Hulks pierced his prison and let fragments of his power lose. The Sky Hulk A.I.s were corrupted into Angelic Thrones in Worship to him, and they are mustering demonic forces in secret.
